2012-2013 Academic Calendar

School year lessons begin September 2nd, 2012 and end May 25th, 2013. There are no lessons the week of Thanksgiving, 2 weeks of winter break, and the week of Spring break. All other holidays (labor day, good Friday, etc.) will have regularly scheduled lessons. There are 34 private lessons during the school year, 2 recitals, and 2 optional performance and theory classes.
Summer lessons are available June-August. Summer per lesson costs are $30 per 30-minute lesson, $45 per 45-minute lessons, $50 per 60-minute lesson, and $85 per month for group classes

Registration and Recital Fee

A non-refundable enrollment fee of $35 will be charged to all new students.
A yearly non-refundable recital fee of $60 will be charged at the beginning of each academic year (September, or the first month that a student registers). This recital fee covers participation in 2-3 recitals per year, plus 2 optional performance and theory classes.
If you withdraw from lessons, neither the registration fee nor the recital fee are refundable.

At Velocity Music Academy, the safety of your children is important to us.
However, Velocity Music Academy does not have someone on staff to watch your children before of after scheduled lesson times. It is highly recommended that an adult stay in the building while younger children take their lessons, and drop-off and pick-up all students promptly.
Velocity Music Academy is not responsible for the safety of your child before or after their regularly scheduled lesson times. This includes, but is not limited to: early drop off, late pick-up, or arriving at the academy at an incorrect lesson time.
Parents are always welcome to observe lessons!

Tuition is based on an annual program consisting of 34 weeks of instruction. It can be paid by the semester or in nine equal monthly payments beginning September 1st, 2012 through May 1st, 2013.
From September through May, tuition is paid monthly in equal amounts, regardless of the number of lessons per month. There are 34 lessons from Sept-May. If you start after the first week in September, tuition will be prorated for the first month.
Tuition from Sept-May is $125 (weekly 30-minute private lesson), $175 (weekly 45-minute private lesson), $200 (weekly 60-minute lesson), $85 (weekly 30 minute pairs lesson or group class), $145 (Suzuki private lesson plus group classes).
If paying for lessons or music by check or cash, please leave the check in the “tuition box” at Velocity Music Academy. Be sure to write the student’s name on the check or envelope for the cash. Automatic credit card payment may also be set up for tuition payments.
All Music assigned to students will be charged to your account. Music will not be distributed to students until payment has been made.

Music Together® policies, class rules, and payment options are listed on a sheet of paper given to each participant at the start of each Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer session.

Make-up lessons are only scheduled during a teacher’s available teaching hours. Students may request 1 make-up lesson per semester.
With the payment of tuition, a lesson slot is reserved in Velocity Music Academy’s teaching schedule for the student every week that the studio is open. As long as tuition is current, the student has the freedom to choose not to come to a lesson, without risk of losing his/her place in the studio. If you miss a lesson, there will be no credits or refunds given.
If you just do not show up for a lesson, no make-up lesson will be offered.
Lessons cancelled by the instructor will be made up, not credited. In addition, due to the faculty’s active performing careers, and in order to ensure uninterrupted class schedule, lessons may occasionally be substituted by a teacher approved by Velocity.

We may occasionally take performance pictures and/or videos of faculty and students at VMA’s recitals and other events. By agreeing to this policy you allow Velocity Music Academy, LLC to use and publish pictures and videos of you or your son(s)/daughter(s) performances. If you would prefer to opt-out of our use of these materials please contact us in writing.

If you wish to withdraw from lessons, a 2 week notice must be given in writing (e-mail). Once we receive your request to withdraw from lessons, you will be responsible for the payment of 2 more lessons. This applies to private and pairs lessons only. Other programs, such as Music Together® and summer camps are programs that must be paid in full. No refunds will be given for Music Together® and Summer Camps after the start date.
A student may be dismissed for: repeated failure to attend lessons, behavior or attitude problems, or nonpayment of tuition.
If you stop lessons and decide to re-enroll at a later date, the enrollment fee will be charged to your first month’s bill.
